How often do you read your Bible? Do you try to give some time to the Lord each day – in study, in prayer, in devotion or meditation, in worship? Reading our Bible is an important way we can give the Lord some of our time and at the same time learn more about Him. The Bible is divinely inspired writing as we are told in 2 Peter 1:21. “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” Prayerfully reading the word of God is profitable for us as we are told in 2 Timothy 3:16,” All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” Daily Bible study can be a great asset to not only our spiritual lives but in our daily walk life as well. There are many ways to study such as studying a particular topic or person. You could also read from a particular section (i.e. the Law, the Gospels, etc.) or study from a particular book. All of the Bible is good. If you have never read the Bible completely through from Genesis to Revelation, maybe you should consider doing so. There are plans for reading the Bible in a year or you can develop your own plan. I highly recommend the Bible as a “must-read”!
